Job Overview

We are seeking skilled front-end engineers to develop scalable solutions that align with our business objectives.

This is a hands-on position where you will design and build UI components, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive results.

To be successful in this role, you must possess excellent programming skills, have a deep understanding of front-end development, and excel at leadership, customer obsession, and technical problem-solving.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Drive strategic decision-making on critical UI feature development, from design through implementation and to testing and deployment.
  • Coach and mentor junior engineers who share a passion for front-end work but may lack experience in its development.
  • Maintain and raise the technical bar across all software development, focusing on front-end work as you foster a collaborative engineering community.
  • Collaborate with product owners, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to define system architecture, elaborate user stories, and discuss business and technical trade-offs.
  • Partner with experienced engineers to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market.
  • Develop high-quality, testable, and maintainable user interfaces.
  • Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software.

A Day in the Life

As a senior front-end engineer, you will lead product and front-end initiatives within the team and beyond by partnering with internal and external stakeholders and teams. You will need to come up with technical strategies and designs for complex customer problems by leveraging out-of-the-box solutions to enable faster rollouts.

You will deliver working front-end systems consisting of multiple features spanning the full software lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance strategy.

The problems you will solve do not start with a defined technology strategy, and may have conflicting constraints. As a senior front-end engineer, you will review other engineers' work to ensure it fits into the bigger picture and is well-designed, extensible, performant, and secure.

You will solve challenging problems at Amazon and drive the delivery of large front-end features from planning through implementation while managing ambiguity and the pace of a company where development cycles are measured in weeks, not years.
