Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient BigQuery Project Administrator with 3+ years of experience on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), specifically BigQuery. This role focuses on project and cost governance, query optimization, and performance improvements.

As a BigQuery Project Administrator, you will collaborate closely with engineering, architecture, and finance teams to ensure efficient, scalable, and cost-effective use of BigQuery resources.

Key Responsibilities:Optimization & Performance Tuning
  • Analyze query patterns, access logs, and usage metrics to recommend schema optimizations (partitioning, clustering, materialized views)
  • Identify opportunities to improve BigQuery performance and reduce storage/computation costs
  • Collaborate with engineers to refactor inefficient queries and optimize data workloads
Project & Cost Governance
  • Monitor and manage BigQuery project structures, billing configurations, quotas, and resource usage
  • Implement and enforce cost control measures, quotas, and budget alerts
  • Create regular reports on usage, cost trends, and anomalies for stakeholders
Collaboration & Support
  • Serve as a bridge between engineering and finance teams for BigQuery-related planning and decisions
  • Support onboarding of new teams into the BigQuery environment
  • Provide training and guidance on best practices and cost-efficient usage
Best Practices & Compliance
  • Define and advocate for BigQuery usage standards and best practices
  • Ensure adherence to data governance, security, and privacy policies
  • Maintain documentation on project setup, governance workflows, and optimization strategies
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with a focus on BigQuery
  • Strong understanding of SQL, data warehousing, and cloud cost management
  • Experience with GCP billing, IAM (Identity and Access Management), and resource configuration
Preferred Certifications:
  • Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer
