About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Database Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our database administration team, you will be responsible for ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of our databases and processes. Your primary goal will be to deliver high-quality data solutions that meet business requirements while maintaining optimal system performance.

Salary Information

The estimated salary for this position ranges from $120,000 to $180,000 per annum, depending on location and experience. This figure is based on industry standards and takes into account the complexity of the role, qualifications, and required skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Refine the logical design of databases to enable efficient translation into specific data models.
  • Maintain the conceptual design for planned databases, ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation.
  • Participate in writing comprehensive database documentation, including data standards, procedures, and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata).
  • Create, test, and execute data management languages to ensure seamless data operations.
  • Monitor database performance, manage parameters, and troubleshoot issues to guarantee speedy query responses.
  • Collaborate with Change Control and Release Management functions to commission and install new applications, customizing existing ones as needed.
  • Apply patches and upgrade databases according to design team requirements.
  • Communicate regularly with technical, applications, and operational employees to ensure database integrity and security.
  • Maintain data standards in accordance with business requirements, NTT policies, and data protection legislation.
  • Work in accordance with security information requirements and procedures.
  • Perform installation, configuration, and maintenance of database management systems and related software within a database administration plan.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of data encryption techniques and database querying and management tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Capacity to learn new technologies and provide innovative solutions to stakeholders.
  • Strong problem analysis skills, including mathematical concepts to validate results.
  • Analytical mind and business acumen.
  • Ability to collect, organize, disseminate, and present significant amounts of information.
  • Effective communication of complex IT information to various audiences.
  • Understanding of data architecture and data services principles.
  • Demonstrated experience working with relational database design and administration.
  • Knowledge of application development lifecycle and data access layers.
  • Able to plan and organize effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Highly process-oriented with great documentation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills when working with unstructured datasets.
  • Ability to manipulate, process, and extract value from large, disconnected datasets.
  • Capacity to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
