Overview

MERCEDES-BENZ RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED is a leading company in the automotive industry, and we are seeking an experienced Senior Electronics Development Engineer to join our team. This role will be responsible for developing and supporting EE components for Mercedes Benz cars, ensuring they meet legal regulations, production demands, project objectives, carline, and module strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Component Development: Develop and support EE components for Mercedes Benz cars, ensuring they meet legal regulations, production demands, project objectives, carline, and module strategy.
  • Requirements Specification: Create and update requirements specifications for components, integrate safety requirements, and create contributions for concept specification and vehicle specification.
  • Schedule Management: Create, control, and maintain schedules with component and software release versions, considering process milestones at the entire vehicle level in consultation with Purchase, Logistics, Calculation, and Quality.
  • Budget Planning: Plan budgets for sample deliveries.
  • E/E System Partnerships: Coordinate with E/E system partners regarding system parts in components.
  • Contact Person: Serve as the contact person for components for carline projects, delegated if necessary to E/E system partners or other project participants.
  • Documentation: Ensure documentation of development progress in RD systems (EPDM, ...).
  • Module Strategy: Assist in the module strategy and module group.
  • Concept Tests: Participate and provide information for concept tests in E/E (design reviews and B sample tests).
  • Component Packaging: Match component packages with overall vehicle design.
  • Data Matching: Match relevant data (operating current and quiescent current, follow-up times, complying with standards for on-board power supply, ...) with on-board power supply.
  • EMC Measurements: Coordinate and support EMC measurements on vehicles.
  • Supplier Management: Assist in complete supplier management (in-house parts and purchased parts), including support for EVS for localized ranges.
  • Lead Control: Lead control of (system-, imposed part-) suppliers with regard to issues related to development and production processes.
  • Development Control: Control development at suppliers.
  • Change Requests: Create and coordinate change requests for changes in components.
  • Component-FMEA: Monitor component-FMEA of suppliers.
  • Test Activities: Monitor test activities at suppliers.
  • Component Test: Coordinate test activities at Daimler for component testing (in some cases perform smoke tests to ensure basic functionality).
  • Defect Management: Coordinate defect management for ECUs.
  • Reports: Prepare reports in carline committees/stakeholders regarding component-specific topics.
  • Component Release: Release components (if applicable, with prerequisite of separate hardware- and software-release) in the scope of PPF using sample cards and AE, if required.
  • ECU Diagnosis: Coordinate ECU diagnosis in plants, aftersales, proto-build shops, etc.
  • ECU Coding: Generate and release ECU-coding (or coordinate system-coding).
  • Sample Provision: Provide and manage samples (including delivery of vehicles, boards, S-HIL, C-HIL, ...).
  • Plant Logistics: Coordinate ordering for plants after blank-release.
  • Test and Commissioning Regulation: Assist in creation and release of test and commissioning regulations (PIV) for components.

Qualifications - External

We are looking for candidates with strong automotive domain knowledge, especially in the area of automotive electronics. The ideal candidate should have self-motivation, be able to mentor/guide new team members, possess strong interpersonal skills with good communication, and have a good understanding of OEM/Tier-1 development models. Previous experience working with global teams and a proven ability of problem-solving are also essential. Additionally, the candidate should have a good understanding of the development processes in automotive OEMs/Tier-1s, embody core values, integrity, and professionalism in day-to-day operations, and have worked in the development of ECUs/electronic components with high complexity.

Qualification

The successful candidate will hold a B.E/M.Tech (full-time) from reputed institutions with specialization in EE/EC/Mechatronics/Instrumentation. At least 6 years of experience in automotive electronics product development is required, along with a good understanding of Automotive – Body electronics/Powertrain/Safety systems, ECU (Electronic Control units), and ECU functional testing. Experience in system testing on different test infrastructures like HiLs, Vehicles, and grooming up new team members is also necessary. A good understanding of the V-model of development cycle is also essential.
