About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Java Developer to join our team at EPAM. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of Java-based applications utilizing SQL, Spring, and Hibernate frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high-quality Java-based applications, ensuring they meet the required standards and are scalable, efficient, and reliable.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to conceptualize, design, and implement new features, ensuring seamless integration and alignment with project goals.
  • Develop and maintain clean, scalable, and efficient code, adhering to coding standards and best practices.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior developers, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development.
  • Oversee code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards and guidelines.
  • Engage in requirement gathering and analysis, ensuring accurate understanding of client needs and project requirements.
  • Design and conduct unit tests to guarantee robustness and reliability.
  • Integrate software components and third-party programs, ensuring smooth functionality and performance.
  • Uphold code quality, organization, and automation, ensuring efficient development processes.
  • Enhance applications for optimal speed and scalability, ensuring they meet client needs and project goals.
  • Promote continuous improvement by exploring alternative technologies and approaches.
  • Document development phases and monitor systems, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting.
  • Ensure adherence to security and data protection regulations, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of client data.
  • Oversee project timelines and deliverables, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience as a Lead Java Developer with 5+ years of professional experience.
  • 1+ years of leadership experience, with a proven track record of leading high-performing teams.
  • Advanced programming skills in Java, with expertise in object-oriented design principles.
  • Proficiency with Java frameworks such as DropWizard, Spring, and Hibernate.
  • In-depth knowledge of SQL and experience with distributed storage systems like DB2, Oracle.
  • Knowledge of web development frameworks (Angular or React).
  • Proficient in code versioning tools, such as Git.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.
  • Capability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively, ensuring timely completion of projects.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with MongoDB, Apache Cassandra, and other RDBMS Tools.
  • Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Practical experience in Unix/Linux environments.
