Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing a variety of duties to assist in the smooth and efficient running of the Engineering Department in support of all other operating departments. The hotel business functions seven days a week, 24 hours a day, and a hospitable service atmosphere must be maintained at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide the highest quality of service to guests at all times and anticipate and exceed guest expectations.
  2. Perform normal carpentry, plumbing, and painting duties, and be capable of operating hand and power tools and reading, interpreting, and measuring metering devices.
  3. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specification, and operating instructions.
  4. Read and complete work orders and may be required to supervise or train certain workers.
  5. Detect malfunctions, dismantle, and repair equipment, and install working parts.
  6. Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and secured.
  7. Make structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, and furnishings, patch or replace plaster/plasterboard, paint walls, ceilings, trim, and cut and lay flooring (linoleum, tile, carpet, etc).
  8. May bend/cut conduit pipe, wire, and drill holes in walls, floors, and ceiling for connections; clean clogged drains and replace plumbing fixtures; connect water supplies and drainage pipelines, and perform simple wiring and maintenance repair.
  9. Check all exterior lighting, public area lighting, and signage daily (parking lot lights, high-rise, entrance sign, walkway lighting, corridor, lobby, elevator, etc.). Maintain an adequate supply of spare parts and light bulbs.
  10. Conduct AM and PM property walks
  11. Record daily checklist, meter readings, pool/spa readings, temperature logs, and maintenance log.
  12. Maintain a clean and orderly work area in accordance with hotel standards.
  13. Practice energy conservation.
  14. Ensure security and confidentiality of guest and hotel information and materials.
  15. Notify manager of maintenance issues and complete work orders as needed.
  16. Responsible for completing all assigned PMs on time.
  17. Maintain acceptable inspection grades and audit scores.
  18. Respond to all pages and radio calls immediately.
  19. Attend work on time as scheduled and adhere to attendance policy.
  20. Practice safety standards at all times, and keep the property safe for guests and fellow team members. Use wet floor signs as required.
  21. Follow proper use of approved chemicals and accurately label chemical container. Always use goggles and gloves when handling chemicals.
  22. Report unsafe conditions and suspicious activity to management.
  23. Lift, carry, or otherwise move up to 50 lbs regularly. Lift, carry, or otherwise move up to 100 lbs or more occasionally with assistance. Follow proper moving and lifting procedures.
  24. Regularly required to stand; walk; reach; use hands to handle or feel; stoop; kneel; crouch; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.
  25. Must possess a valid/current driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record. Must possess additional driver's endorsements if required by state in order to operate the hotel van. Must also have personal insurance and certificate of liability.
  26. Responsible for contacting vendors (snow/ice removal, parking lot, and grounds maintenance, etc.). Obtain bids and monitor vendor's service.
  27. Wear uniform, including nametag and tool pouch/tool belt at all times.
  28. Communicate properly and effectively with guests, Team Members, and managers. Effectively respond to guest complaints.
  29. Promote positive teamwork and morale.
  30. Maintain knowledge of hotel property, hotel staff, hotel services, hotel service hours of operation, and hotel surroundings (i.e., mall, restaurants).
  31. Adhere to all work rules, procedures, and policies established by the company. Know location and use of fire extinguishers.
  32. Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene and adhere to the hotel and department grooming standards.
  33. Be flexible in your job function and perform any other reasonable duties and responsibilities which may be assigned to you, including redeployment to other departments/areas if required, in order to meet business demands and guest service needs.
  34. Treat all operating equipment and supplies carefully to minimize damage and reduce waste.
  35. Deliver the brand promise and provide exceptional, friendly, courteous, and professional guest service at all times.
  36. Read the company's Team Member Handbook and have an understanding of and adhere to the hotel's rules and regulations and in particular, the policies and procedures relating to Fire, Hygiene, Health, and Safety.
  37. Maintain knowledge of hotel property, hotel staff, hotel services, hotel service hours of operation, and hotel surroundings (i.e., mall, restaurants).
  38. Comply with local legislation as required.
  39. Thorough knowledge of applicable Company and departmental policies and procedures as well as the willingness to learn and follow any policy or procedure that may be introduced in the future.
  40. Adhere to all appearance and uniform standards.
  41. Maintain an open line of communication with Managers.
  42. Maintain a positive and professional demeanor during all interactions with guests, fellow Team Members, and Vendors.
  43. Ability to accept performance feedback in a professional manner.
  44. Regular attendance to all scheduled shifts is considered an essential function of the job.
  45. Arriving on-time for all scheduled shifts is considered an essential function of the job.
