As a Medical Documentation Specialist, you will be responsible for accurately reviewing physician dictation and transcribing it into clinical notes in electronic medical records (EMRs) and billing systems.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Transcribing physician dictations into clinical notes
  • Preparing and assembling medical record documentation/charts for physicians
  • Ensuring compliance with medical record regulations and policies
  • Updating patient information, physical exams, and other pertinent health data in the patient's chart
  • Preparing and sending documentation to physicians for review and approval
  • Monitoring lab results and screening procedures
  • Complying with hospital and medical facility policies, including HIPAA and Joint Commission regulations

Required Skills and Qualifications include:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a medical transcriptionist or scribe
  • Administrative writing and reporting skills
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Record-keeping and data entry skills
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail
  • Typing speed and accuracy
  • Solid oral and written communication skills

Bachelor's degree with a pre-health career track preferred. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology required. Familiarity with ICD-X codes and CPT procedures advantageous. Skilled in operating various EMR software and hardware, word-processing, and database software programs.
