As a Safety and Loss Prevention Specialist at SBM Offshore, you will be responsible for developing safety and loss prevention deliverables and studies, ensuring they are technically correct, issued on schedule, communicated and documented properly. Your tasks will include:

  • Creating safety concept and basis of design documents
  • Developing fire protection basis of design
  • Conducting hazardous area classification schedules and layouts
  • Designing escape route drawings
  • Specifying loose firefighting equipment
  • Performing hydraulic firewater calculations
  • Conducting Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA)
  • Carrying out Fire & Explosion risk analysis (FERA)
  • Designing Escape, Evacuation and Rescue Analysis (EERA)
  • Modeling smoke, toxic gas and hydrocarbon gas dispersion

You will identify opportunities for the continuous improvement of the management of major hazards. Your tasks will include:

  • Supporting the preparation, review and development of safety engineering documentation in accordance with the Group Technical Standards
  • Supporting the development of risk management, ensuring that all design aspects are justified and the risks reduced to as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP)
  • Identifying and writing specifications for the loss prevention aspects applicable to the Company's products
  • Using appropriate software for analyses, calculations and design aids
  • Designing fire and gas detection, firefighting and safety systems on a FPSO and/or turret
  • Performing detailed design of all loss prevention systems for FPSO and/or turret
  • Participating in HAZOP, design reviews and other safety reviews
  • Monitoring and reviewing internal drawings, specifications and documentation related to loss prevention systems
  • Performing safety and risk engineering in conformance with all applicable and relevant legislation, standards and codes
  • Providing responses to comments from clients and classification societies on drawings and specifications
  • Attending and contributing to internal Company/departmental/project meetings

Requirements:

  • Academic: Graduate in Chemical, Fire & Safety or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience in Oil & Gas Industry
  • Skills: PIPENET/PHAST software
