Job Overview

The Salesforce DevOps Release Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the release process for all Salesforce updates, enhancements, and fixes within the organization. This role requires a unique blend of technical prowess, strategic planning, and communication skills to ensure that releases are executed flawlessly and align with the business needs and timelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Release Planning and Management: Coordinate with various stakeholders, including development teams, operations team, and business units, to ensure clear understanding and alignment on release timelines and objectives.
  • Environment and Configuration Management: Manage Salesforce environments and configurations to ensure consistency across development, testing, staging, and production.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with project teams to identify issues/risks that will impact quality or delivery from a technical and business perspective.
  • Automation and Tooling: Develop and maintain automated processes for build, test, and deployment using CI/CD pipelines.
  • Quality Assurance and Testing: Oversee the design and execution of testing plans to ensure each release meets quality standards before deployment.
  • Change Management: Manage change control processes, ensuring that all changes meet compliance and governance standards.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders to communicate release plans, status updates, and potential impacts.
  • Risk Management and Troubleshooting: Identify potential risks associated with releases and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Regularly assess and optimize the release process, seeking efficiencies and improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, or related field.
  • Minimum 6-8 years of business and/or IT experience.
  • Minimum 4-5 years of Release Manager experience with DevOps practices, Bitbucket, and version control systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management experience working with application and infrastructure IT groups.
  • Risk Management and planning, resource coordination.
  • Experience with release management and versioning tools, such as JIRA, Gearset, and Bitbucket.
