Main Responsibilities
  • Middleware Engineering: Design, build, configure, monitor and support entire middleware platform hosted on-premises and in cloud environments.
  • Communicate effectively and lead root cause analysis and preventive action plans while leading operation war rooms.
  • Engineering: Architect, design, build, engineer, deploy, administer and support pharmacy and healthcare software applications hosted on middleware platforms such as WebSphere, JBoss, HTTP servers and Tomcat platforms. Extensive knowledge of middleware platform hosted on Linux/Unix.
  • Operations: Perform upgrades, deployments and provide root cause analysis for critical issues.
  • Modernization: Cloud and Containers middleware platform: Design, build and support healthcare cloud computing platforms hosted on but not limited to Kubernetes, Azure Stack and Azure Public cloud.
  • Security: Enable heightened security and alerting mechanism around the middleware platform adhering to security and compliance policies and procedures. Monitor and optimize middleware performance and capacity using standard and custom monitoring tools.
  • DevOps tools: Knowledge of scripting and enabling CI/CD across the delivery lifecycle using Jenkins, GitHub, XLDeploy and other custom utilities.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Automate through tools like Terraform, Ansible or Chef.
  • Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning: Use Artificial intelligence concepts and tools in instrumenting Middleware engineering deliverables.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in field of engineering, mathematics or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in design, build, configure, monitor and administer JBOSS, WebSphere, Tomcat hosted on Linux.
  • Experience with Linux commands and shell scripts.
  • Experience with any Scripting language.
  • Cloud administration certification.
  • Experience with SSL certificate management.
  • Utilize artificial intelligence/machine learning techniques and tools around middleware delivery lifecycle.
  • Leading operation war rooms.
  • Demonstrated excellent learning curve - ability to learn new tools and technology in fast-paced environment.

This position is within Middleware Engineering team, responsible for design, engineering, build and support (operations) of entire middleware platform for OptumRx Line of business.
