
Senior Project Coordinator

This role involves working as part of a team to deliver projects effectively.
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a senior or project engineer to carry out various functions:
- Prepare feasibility study reports in the agreed format and review them with the relevant authority.
- Work with the team to assemble a design specification compliant with employer requirements, agree its format and content, and monitor its preparation ensuring timely delivery.
- Agree and monitor scope of works with the relevant authority.
- Define building requirements and purpose of use with the relevant authority and team to facilitate detailed design.
- Carry out detailed design to industry standards ensuring CDM, QA, and technical review, including complex calculations and coordination issues.
- Review and monitor the production of calculations including QA, technical reviews, and sign off.
- Ensure information for project costing preparation is completed in detail and on time, and keep the team informed about design progress through explanation of design decisions.
- Provide documentary information via the team to assist in tender document preparation, ensuring information is completed in detail and on time, and keeping the team informed about design progress through explanation of design decisions.
- Coordinate project contracts documents (drawings and specifications) and review input from team members.
- Deal with day-to-day queries from the team, ensuring relevant information is available on time for construction activity.
- Report any variance between constructed works and design intent to the relevant authority and team.
- Project manage commissions from the team using applicable tools.
- Lead the design process and encourage the team to deliver cost-effective solutions within the agreed timeframe.
- Follow document control, archiving CDM, and QA processes relevant to project work, ensuring drawings, specifications, reports, and correspondence are issued and filed appropriately, and coach junior staff in their usage.
- Technical and Project Management
- Raise the level of technical competence within the team.
- Implement delivery and quality measurement processes.
- Promote technical excellence across all projects.
- Contribute to concept design and undertake technical reviews.
- Provide feedback to improve protocols and processes.
- Develop positive professional relationships with the team, communicating openly about project progress.
- Participate in team meetings, disseminate information within the team, and communicate with other teams.
- Identify and act on potential risk issues and follow company commercial and contracting processes.
- Manage delegated tasks to ensure deadlines are met and flag resourcing concerns to team leaders.
- Identify and flag additional fees/scope agreed with the relevant authority.
- Complete timesheets accurately ahead of deadlines.
Key Competencies/Skills:
Mandatory Skills:
- Demonstrate experience in structural design with significant experience in a similar role or a good track record.
- Excellent presentation skills required.
- Fully conversant with technical structural software such as RAM, CSC, ETABS, and SAFE.
- A sound understanding of Microsoft Office applications.
- Fluent English speaker with an excellent understanding of technical terminology.
Desired Skills:
- Demonstrate good management, communication, and technical skills, capable of working independently and within a team as needed.
Qualifications:
- British Chartered Engineer status or equivalent preferred, degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, and membership to an accredited engineering body. Experience: 14+ years.
