Estimation Role

We are seeking an experienced estimator who is passionate about the broadband, telecom, and outside plant industry. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of industry requirements for all outside plant engineering and construction needs and possess the expertise to properly price projects accordingly.

  • The successful candidate will review customer-provided Request for Proposals (RFPs) documents to gain a full understanding including but not limited to project scope, RFP response requirements, project specifications, project schedule, and customer objectives.
  • They will develop comprehensive estimates and bid preparation templates specifically tailored to each RFP project.
  • The candidate will utilize expert-level proficiency in Excel to build cost breakdowns, high-level schedules, risk registers, preliminary resource plans, and populate customer bid pricing forms and sheets for RFP submittals and client submissions.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to gather necessary project information and ensure accurate estimates.
  • The candidate will conduct thorough analysis and research to identify potential cost-saving opportunities and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Effective communication with internal stakeholders is necessary to present estimates, address inquiries, and provide recommendations as needed.
  • Staying updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices is crucial to continuously improve estimating processes and accuracy.
  • Other miscellaneous duties related to estimation may be assigned.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in estimation within the broadband, telecom, or outside plant industry.
  • Expertise in Excel with the ability to develop complex spreadsheets and models.
  • A self-motivated individual with a strong passion for the industry and a drive for excellence.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with team members and clients.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in commercial and industrial low-voltage and/or fiber optic cabling project coordination and estimation as combined, related, and relevant experience.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, structural drawings, and plan sets.
  • Able to comply with and enforce risk management policies and safety procedures.
  • Experience preparing budgets for each project.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, processes, trade practices, and equipment.
  • OSHA 10, 30 Certifications preferred.
  • Proficiency in using software suites such as Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written and communication skills in English.
