Backend Software Engineer Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Backend Software Engineer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to contribute to the development of high-quality software systems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Node.js and experience with Express.js, NestJS, and other relevant technologies. They will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable, efficient, and reliable backend systems.

\

Key Responsibilities:

\
  • Design and implement backend systems using Node.js, Express.js, and NestJS.\
  • Develop and maintain high-quality code, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and reliability.\
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements.\
  • Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to ensure best practices are followed.\
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to inform design and implementation decisions.\\/\

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • \
  • 4+ years of experience in backend software engineering with Node.js, Express.js, and NestJS.\
  • Strong database skills: DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL (design, optimization, query tuning).\
  • Experience designing RESTful APIs and exposure to GraphQL.\
  • Strong unit and integration testing skills using Jest and Supertest.\
  • Experience with CI/CD using GitLab CI, Docker, and containerization best practices.\
  • Knowledge of caching (Redis) and messaging queues (SQS/Kafka/RabbitMQ).\
  • AWS expertise: Lambda, API Gateway, S3, CloudWatch, DynamoDB.\
  • Strong understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and scalability patterns.\
  • Knowledge of authentication & authorization (JWT, OAuth2, Cognito).\
  • Experience with monitoring & logging (ELK stack, Datadog, X-Ray).\
  • Agile Scrum, Jira/Confluence, RESTful service design, TDD, Clean code.\
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.\
  • Experience working with international clients (UK & US).\
  • Ability to handle pressure and last-minute changes.\
  • Taking responsibility and ownership for development work.\
  • Meeting customer quality standards.\
  • Experience migrating code from Java to Node.js (understanding Java code and converting to Node.js).\
  • Experience developing secure, decoupled, and resilient microservices.\
  • Good team player.\
  • API Gateway, Sequelize, SonarQube, Datadog, Gov/NHS Service Standards, CDDO Technology Code of Practice.\\/\
