Middleware - Platform Orchestrator

The ideal candidate will have experience with messaging systems, cloud infrastructure, and automation tools. At Fulcrum Digital, we accelerate digital transformation and provide technology services right from ideation to implementation. Our services have applicability across various industries, including banking, financial services, insurance, retail, higher education, food, healthcare, and manufacturing.

Responsibilities
  1. Engage in and improve the entire lifecycle of services from inception and design through deployment, operation, and refinement.
  2. Analyze ITSM activities of the platform and provide feedback loops to development teams on operational gaps or resiliency concerns.
  3. Support services before they go live through activities such as system design consulting, capacity planning, and launch reviews.
  4. Maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health with automated alerts.
  5. Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity.
  6. Practice sustainable incident response and detailed postmortems.
  7. Take a holistic approach to problem-solving by connecting the dots during a production event through the various technology stack that makes up the platform to optimize mean time to recover.
  8. Work with a global team spread across tech hubs in multiple geographies and time zones.
  9. Share knowledge and mentor junior resources.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics) or equivalent practical experience.
  2. Experience with algorithms, data structures, scripting, pipeline management, and software design.
  3. Systematic problem-solving approach coupled with strong communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive.
  4. Ability to help debug, optimize code, and automate routine tasks.
  5. Experience in dealing with difficult situations and making decisions with a sense of urgency is needed.
  6. Experience in one or more of the following is preferred: Python, Go, Bash scripting.
  7. Interest in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
  8. Need team members with an appetite for change and pushing the boundaries of what can be done with automation. Experience in working across development, operations, and product teams to prioritize needs and build relationships is a must.
  9. For work on our ops team, engineer with experience in industry-standard CI/CD tools like Git/Bitbucket, Jenkins, and Chef. Experience in designing and implementing an effective and efficient CI/CD flow that gets code from dev to prod with high quality and minimal manual effort is required.

Requirements

  1. Linux and Shell scripting.
  2. ITIL/ITSM.
  3. SQL (Basic).
  4. Troubleshooting.
  5. Nginx (Basic).
  6. Java/JEE development experience interested in operations.
  7. Event-driven architectures.
  8. MQ or NATS broker or similar messaging solutions.
  9. Kafka.
  10. Client-server communication aspects, sockets, TLS protocol.
  11. Understand the concept of region and AZs.
  12. Production support experience.
  13. Deployments MTF/Prod Maintenance items (including stop/start, Disaster Recovery related activities, etc.), CR for changes in MTF/Prod.
  14. Jenkins CI/CD (Basic).
