Job Title: Team Lead

Job Description:

This role involves working collaboratively as part of a team to support the delivery of projects. As a Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams and providing guidance on project management best practices.

• Prepare feasibility study reports in accordance with agreed formats and review with senior engineers.
• Work with the project team to develop design specifications compliant with employer requirements, agree format and content, and ensure timely delivery.
• Agree and monitor scope of works with senior engineers and project teams.
• Determine building requirements and purposes of use in collaboration with senior engineers and project teams to enable detailed design.
• Carry out detailed design work adhering to WSP and B Regulations standards, ensuring compliance with CDM, QA, and technical reviews, and obtaining sign-off from senior engineers.
• Review and monitor the production of calculations, including QA and technical reviews, and obtain sign-off.
• Ensure accurate completion of project costing information and keep project teams informed regarding design progress through explanation of design decisions.
• Provide documentation to assist in tender preparation, ensuring completeness and timeliness, and keep project teams informed regarding design progress.
• Coordinate project contracts documents (drawings and specifications) and review input from team members.
• Address day-to-day queries from project teams, ensuring timely provision of relevant information for construction activities.
• Report any variance between constructed works and design intent to project teams and senior engineers.
• Manage commissions from project teams using applicable project management tools.
• Lead the design process, promoting cost-effective solutions within agreed timelines.
• Adhere to document control, archiving, CDM, and QA processes, ensuring drawings, specifications, reports, and correspondence are issued and filed appropriately. Coach junior staff in their usage.

• Raise the level of technical competence within teams.
• Implement delivery and quality measurement processes.
• Promote technical excellence in all projects.
• Conduct technical reviews and contribute to concept design.
• Provide continuous feedback on the effectiveness of protocols and processes to senior engineers for improvement.
• Develop positive professional relationships with project teams, communicating openly about project progress.
• Participate in team meetings, disseminate information within the team, and communicate with other teams.
• Identify and address potential risk issues, following company commercial and contracting processes.
• Manage delegated tasks, meeting deadlines and flagging resourcing concerns to team leaders.
• Identify and report additional fees or scope changes to senior engineers.
• Complete timesheets accurately ahead of weekly deadlines.

• The ideal candidate should have proven experience in designing Building Structures, with significant experience in similar roles or demonstration of good track records.
• Good presentation skills are required.
• Must be fully conversant with technical structural software such as RAM, CSC, ETABSs, and SAFE.
• A sound understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project is essential.
• Fluency in English with an excellent understanding of technical terminology is mandatory.
