Senior Technical Lead - Mechanical Design (RCC)

Primary Purpose of the Role:

This position is responsible for performing a subset of all engineering activities required to design and develop RCC components/modules as part of a solution, ensuring customer satisfaction with the delivered solution/product.

You will be an experienced mechanical engineer with a degree or equivalent, possessing a solid understanding of mechanical and manufacturing engineering principles and engineering development lifecycles.

  • Demonstrable experience in operating within highly regulated sectors, ideally maritime, defence, or aerospace.
  • Experienced in 3D CAD systems, preferably using CREO/CATIA.
  • Fundamental understanding of mechanical and manufacturing engineering principles.
  • General understanding of engineering development lifecycles.

Experience in One or More of the Following Areas:

  • Packaging of electronics and associated cabling.
  • Designing for platform installation.
  • Design of racks or cabinets.
  • Design of consoles.
  • Designing of assembly and mould tooling.
  • Designing of lifting equipment.
  • Experience in designing sonar assemblies and/or equipment for the sub-sea environment would be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Carry out mechanical design activities in a team environment with other engineers. Collaborate with production and procurement to produce cost-effective, easy-to-manufacture design solutions.
  • Trials and integration support.
  • Collaborate with production and procurement to produce cost-effective, easy-to-manufacture design solutions.
  • Monitor compliance of designs against target costs and lead time.
  • Contribute to change management of product development.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Essential

CAD tools: CATIA, PRO-E, UG, SOLIDWORKS, AUTOCAD, MASTERCAM, INVENTOR

Manufacturing: DFM, Jigs and Fixtures Analysis Stress Analysis, Stack Up Analysis, Thermal and Flow Analysis, Weight Analysis

Desirable:

Formidable manufacturing experience and exposure to technologies like 3D printing, electromechanical systems.

Additional Information:

Education Qualification: B.E. Mechanical Engineering with right skills

Year of Experience: 10 to 14 years of strong design and industrial experience
