Electrical Engineer Job Description

The role of Electrical Engineer involves working on the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems for various industrial facilities. This includes projects in the fields of Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Power Generation, Energy Transition, Infrastructures, and industries.

As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for reviewing and developing technical specifications, data sheets, and technical bid evaluations of electrical equipment and materials. You will also work on single line drawings and schematics, as well as lighting, earthing, and lightning calculations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing main electrical equipment and materials
  • Preparing and reviewing technical specifications and data sheets
  • Preparing electrical equipment and material sizing calculations
  • Preparing Hazardous Area Classification with Designer support (only 2D drawings), Panel schedules (Power and Lighting), Interconnection and Wiring Diagrams, Control Schematics
  • Preparing MTO/BOM, Lighting Calculations, Cable Tray and Trench sizing Calculations
  • Requisitioning for Inquiry and Purchase of Electrical Equipment's (TRANSFORMERS, SWITCHGEARS, GENERATORS, BUS DUCTS, UPS, CAPACITORS, CATHODIC PROTECTION) and Bulk Materials(Cables, Trays, Lighting and Grounding materials)
  • Technical Bid Evaluation of Offers for Electrical Equipment's and Bulk Materials & TB Tabulation preparation
  • Interacting and collaborating with rest of technical disciplines involved
  • Able to deal with change and demonstrate flexibility as required
  • Demonstrating awareness and commitment to health, safety and environmental issues
  • Managing engineering vendors data
  • Reporting engineering status and progress

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Skills
  • Designing for electrical equipment and materials
  • 5 to 20 year or more experience working in the electrical discipline in a engineering company
  • Effective communication skills
  • Understanding of other disciplines
  • Able to complete tasks in accordance with project requirements
  • Able to discuss routine technical problems and communicate effectively with immediate Supervisor and other project personnel
  • Excellent English language skills - listening, speaking, reading and writing
  • Knowledge of electrical calculation software (ETAP, SKM, Digisilent, Dialux)
  • Experience as electrical site engineer
