Patent Specialist Role Overview

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Patent Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in patent drafting and prosecution, with a strong understanding of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patent Drafting: Develop high-quality patent applications for inventions in the ICT field.
  • Prosecution Projects: Manage prosecution projects, including formulating response strategies for office actions and drafting complete responses.
  • Provisional Specifications: Create provisional specifications and complete patent applications, including well-crafted claim sets that conform to US and EP patent legal and procedural standards.
  • Training and Mentorship: Provide training to team members on multiple technical areas, mentor interns on assigned technology areas, and offer guidance and direction for drafting and/or prosecution work.
  • Process Improvement: Apply process knowledge to produce consistent, high-quality results, conduct root cause analysis to identify issues, and suggest recommendations to enhance team performance and improve productivity.
  • Problem-Solving: Utilize available tools to analyze and solve problems.
  • Hiring Process: Participate in the hiring process by preparing test papers, evaluating candidates, and interviewing potential hires.
  • Team Leadership: Lead team members in specialized technical assignments and projects requiring high-level proficiency and competency.

Requirements:

  • Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering/technology from a reputable institution is required.
  • Domain Knowledge: Excellent domain knowledge in the ICT field is essential.
  • Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in patent drafting and/or prosecution, with at least two years of experience in patent drafting for the US jurisdiction, is required.

Desirable Qualifications: Experience in drafting 50+ patent applications for the US domain is highly desirable.
