Credit Strategy and Portfolio Management

Credila Financial Services Limited seeks an experienced Credit Strategist to oversee Area Credit Managers and Credit Managers at the location. This role will lead Credit underwriting and Portfolio quality management for the region, responsible for all Underwriting decisions, approvals, deviations, and exception management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategy: Collaborate with the Chief Credit Officer to develop a Credit Underwriting vision and create credit and underwriting policies & processes.
  • Maintaining Credit Quality: Manage vendors for maintaining quality and TAT for all verification and validation, regularly monitor and conduct sample checks on verification and vendor processes, meet with loan borrowers and applicants for personal interaction based on the risk profile of cases.
  • Implementation of Risk Management Tools, Initiate Processes Improvement, Automation, and Impart Training: Adhere to credit decisioning parameters as per Credit Policy on loan proposals, introduce new product and policy amendments based on local market experience, implement automation and process improvements for better customer experience, while maintaining the organization's risk appetite.
Relationship Management, Customer Service, and Team Management:
  • Oversee the end-to-end credit approval process within agreed turnaround times (TATs) and be responsible for all underwriting decisions, approvals, deviations, and exceptions for the location.
  • Collaborate with recoveries and analytics teams to generate business insights and improve the credit appraisal process.
  • Identify and mitigate risks through regular portfolio monitoring and take timely decisions on exposure levels, collateral, etc.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Extensive Knowledge of retail loans preferably LAP or PL products
  • Hands-on experience of Credit buying, Field credit processes, People management skills
  • Excellent communications abilities in English and any regional language
  • Servicing ability in terms of processing TAT (Turnaround Time) and relationship management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, Team player, and Motivator

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, or related field required; CA, CFA, or MBA Finance preferred. 15-18 years of related work experience in the financial services sector.
