Job Overview:

Credit Manager Position

We are seeking experienced professionals with a strong background in Australian mortgage underwriting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assessing home loan applications, ensuring high-quality credit decisions, and collaborating with stakeholders across geographies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and make decisions on home loan/mortgage applications based on Australian credit policy and guidelines.
  • Verify income, conduct credit checks, review property valuations, and perform responsible lending assessments.
  • Liaise with brokers, lenders, and internal teams to clarify documentation gaps or discrepancies.
  • Maintain timely and high-quality credit decisions while meeting Service Level Agreements (SLA) and compliance standards.
  • Evaluate adherence to NCCP, AML, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior underwriters and support process improvements.
  • Publish regular reports on pipeline, SLAs, and quality metrics.
Requirements:
  • A graduate degree in Finance, Commerce, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of mortgage underwriting experience, with at least 2–3 years in the Australian home loan domain.
  • A thorough understanding of Australian credit policies, responsible lending guidelines, and loan origination systems is necessary.
  • Experience with multiple lenders (Bankwest, CBA, ANZ, etc.) is an advantage.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills are essential.
  • The ability to work in fast-paced environments and meet deadlines is critical.
Preferred Skills:
  • Certification in mortgage lending or credit assessment is desirable.
  • Experience with income types including PAYG, self-employed, rental, foreign income is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with credit bureaus like Equifax (AU) is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of verification tools and fraud checks used in the Australian mortgage ecosystem is preferred.
