Medical Coding Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Medical Coder to join our team. As a Medical Coder, you will be responsible for assigning accurate and sequenced codes to medical procedures and diagnoses in compliance with government and insurance regulations.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assign accurate and sequenced codes to medical procedures and diagnoses in accordance with established guidelines and regulations.
  • Review patient charts and documents for accuracy and verify information with other staff members as needed.
  • Analyze data to prepare reports identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategic procedures to optimize results.
  • Investigate and analyze medical malpractice cases to identify causes of negligence.

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience as a Medical Coder or successful completion of a certification program (CPC).
  • Bachelor's degree with a pre-health career track preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Expertise in ICD-X codes and CPT Procedures.
  • Proficiency in operating various medical record software and hardware, word-processing, and database software programs.
