Job Description:

We are seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Senior Consultant Ecology to work on our Environment projects in the UK region from our Design Centers in India.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage ecological desk studies, including requesting data from record centers in the UK, identifying and analyzing designated sites/species present within the study area.
  • Undertake high-level environmental constraints studies and MAGIC searches.
  • Collate data for the production of preliminary ecological appraisals and assist with producing biodiversity strategies and other documents.
  • Assist on a range of projects and assist with bid production.
  • Undertake and assist with license applications, including developing mitigation and monitoring.
  • Participate in training with respect to best practice and survey standards, as appropriate.
  • Lead the development of team training plans and make a major contribution to upskilling and training.
  • Review plans and budgets for medium-size and/or complex tasks and monitor progress against these.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A minimum qualification of Masters in Zoology/Ecology/Conservation Biology or any relevant environmental field.
  • Between 10-15 years of professional experience required.
  • Experience in writing ecological reports and contributing to the production of other ecological reports, such as scoping and baseline sections of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and biodiversity net gain reports.
  • Manage a team of 5-10 people.
  • Demonstrate understanding of and apply environmental legislation, policy, and guidance.
  • Prior experience of ecological surveys/species surveys and habitat assessments.
  • Basic environment assessment knowledge of UK EIA and Town Planning Regulations.
  • Takes responsibility for ensuring own adherence to biosecurity and health and safety protocols.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Can identify a range of commonly found taxa/species associated with recognized broad habitat types, using keys and field identification guides.
  • Understanding of UK or European bat species would be an asset or transferable knowledge from Indian species.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of Ecological Consultancy or working within the field of conservation.
  • Confident working in a team with excellent attention to detail.
  • Project management skills for medium and large projects.
  • Highly motivated with good communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Advanced knowledge of ArcGIS/bat analysis software would be an add-on.
  • Proficiency in foreign language would be beneficial.
