Role: Senior Consultant, Professional Services

This role involves providing technical assistance to our customers both in-person and virtually. The ideal candidate will be able to learn about their industry, formulate suggestions, provide Database deployment architecture, configure/implement database solutions. This individual possesses a strong blend of people skills and in-depth understanding of database deployments.

  • Assess the existing deployments of Postgres, associated tools in the customer place, and make recommendations on how to improve them.
  • Gather and record the enterprise-wide database requirements by consulting with stakeholders in client teams.
  • Create proposals for professional services that meet the objectives and goals of customers.
  • Guide customers in the development of custom Postgres-based applications using programming languages like C/C++, PHP, Python, Java or Ruby.
  • Troubleshoot various database challenges including performance issues.
  • Migrate databases from Oracle, SQL Server, and/or MySQL to PostgreSQL.
  • Perform performance tuning for existing database deployments.
  • Work with customers to upgrade their application to the latest version of Postgres and configure/change their application to take advantage of new features.
  • Design and implement Database High Availability configurations using PostgreSQL.
  • Evaluate security needs by customers and make recommendations.
  • Document all work clearly and concisely in runbooks and customer communications throughout the project.
  • Implement backup strategies and perform upgrades and patching.
  • Develop Data migration strategies to migrate large databases in line with customer downtime constraints.
  • Implement advanced Database monitoring and set up alerts using industry best practices and tools.

This role requires a strong blend of technical and soft skills. The ideal candidate will have experience working with databases, possess excellent communication skills, and be able to travel occasionally.
