Responsibilities:

  • Plan and Deliver Lessons: Create engaging music lessons that accommodate varying learning styles and abilities.
  • Utilize Adaptive Techniques: Use assistive technologies, visual aids, instruments, and alternative communication methods to support student participation.
  • Encourage Expression and Communication: Promote music as a means of self-expression, communication, and emotional regulation.
  • Collaborate with Specialists: Work with occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other specialists to integrate therapeutic goals into musical activities.
  • Assessment and Reporting: Assess student progress using tailored benchmarks; maintain accurate records and contribute to IEPs (Individualized Education Programs).
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, structured, and encouraging classroom environment; manage behavior sensitively in line with our positive behavior support policies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music, Certificate course in Music Therapy (preferred)
  • 3 to 7 years of experience working with children in a mainstream school/special school
  • Teaching qualification or experience in special education (Preferred)
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and adaptive music education
  • Ability to play an instrument and facilitate group music singing
  • Musical knowledge of Tamil songs and Bhajans
  • Tamil language proficiency is mandatory
  • Training in music therapy or knowledge of therapeutic music practices
  • Experience with communication aids
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Patience, creativity, and a positive attitude
