Veterinary Professional

At BluePearl Pet Hospital in Southfield, MI, we are seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency and Critical Care department. This is a unique opportunity for you to utilize your skills, expand your expertise, and work alongside talented veterinary professionals.

• This is a full-time position with various shifts available, including first shift (5am-3pm), second shift (2pm-12am), or third shift (8p-6a). You will be required to work a minimum of 2 ten hour shifts per week, as well as 2 weekend shifts per month, on-call, and holiday obligations.

• You will induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients, using appropriate equipment and techniques.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital, taking vital signs such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique and positioning patients correctly.
• Maintain a complete understanding of normal patient vital signs, including heart and respiratory rates, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, alerting veterinarians to any changes or issues.
• Identify patients at risk of arrest and initiate CPR as needed.
• Calculate medical math and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Be proficient in performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Develop a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Demonstrate patience and empathy when addressing client concerns.

The estimated salary for this role is $55,000-$65,000 per year, depending on experience.
