Job Overview

A global technology company is seeking a talented Backend Engineer to join its team. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems for web-based and mobile products.

The company has seen rapid growth in India and is building out a full Engineering team to accelerate success here. As a member of this team, you will work closely with engineering teams in the United States, Nigeria, and Kenya to strengthen the capabilities of existing products and build new product lines.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a range of technical challenges, from maintaining complex financial systems to accessing and processing creative data sources for algorithmic credit models. You will be part of a fast-paced, innovative environment that values bottom-up innovation and decentralized decision-making.

Main Responsibilities
  • Designing and building APIs and backend systems for frontend clients, including Android mobile apps.
  • Integrating with various third-party systems, including payment systems, identity providers, and messaging platforms.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to build new financial products.
  • Scaled our backend services to ever-growing levels of traffic and complexity.

Requirements
  • Strong experience (3-8 years) of building backend software for web-based or mobile products.
  • Experience leveraging modern AI tools for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Strong knowledge of software development fundamentals, including relevant background in computer science fundamentals, distributed systems, data storage, and agile development methodologies.
  • Pragmatic approach to combining technology and product needs to arrive at the best solution for a given problem.
  • Highly entrepreneurial and takes ownership of own impact.
  • Excellent collaborator & communicator.
  • Excited by working in a distributed team and company, working with teammates from all over the world.
  • Experience in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data architectures that integrate disparate data sources.
  • Strong command on Data Modelling and Organization best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with toolstack similar to dbt, Airflow, Snowflake, Metabase, etc.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language like Python.
