The Position:

Cigna, a leading health insurance company, is seeking a Data Governance Lead Analyst to play a key role in the governance of data across the organization. As a strategic partner, you will be responsible for implementing a data governance framework, which includes deploying and embedding key data governance policies and standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement data governance policies and standards, working closely with business teams to establish data ownership and accountability.
  • Socialize and implement the data governance framework across the organization, driving its adoption and ensuring compliance.
  • Create and promote data quality management capabilities, coaching stakeholders on how to measure quality and build rules for 'what good looks like'.
  • Develop and promote the use of common data assets, such as business glossary, reference data, data inventories, data models, and data quality tools.
  • Monitor adherence to data policies and standards, escalating potential policy deviations where necessary.
  • Facilitate the Data Governance Forums, reporting on data issues and priorities.
  • Collaborate with internal Risk, Compliance, and Audit teams to ensure appropriate controls on data management are implemented into business operations.
  • Develop and promote the measurement of overall data maturity metrics.
  • Act as an expert data resource when dealing with external parties, such as auditors, vendors, and regulators.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years' experience in data management, gained across the disciplines of data governance, data quality management, data standards management, reference data management, and data privacy disciplines.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence both business and technology stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience at the intersection of customer, risk, and compliance, in the context of 'risks related to data' events.
  • Possess knowledge of the interdependencies of business and IT functions in relation to data management.
  • Excellent facilitation, presentation, and storyboarding skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with regard to data management.
