The Accounting Team

We are a dynamic team responsible for understanding and communicating Stripe's financial performance, ensuring effective corporate governance, and providing critical support for business growth. Our primary focus is on maintaining a well-controlled environment that meets financial reporting requirements, advising and enabling Stripe to scale efficiently.

Your Role in Our Journey

We seek an experienced accountant to join our world-class Accounting team and contribute to our rapid growth. As a Corporate Accounting Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting our team with various responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly and quarterly close activities, including manual journal entry preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analyses, and analytical reviews.
  • Participate in developing scalable accounting processes to support global growth.
  • Collaborate with teams like Finance Systems, Finance and Strategy, Treasury, Investor Relations, Tax, and Legal to determine and operationalize the accounting implications of new business initiatives and transactions.
  • Execute efficient internal control documentation and procedures.
  • Enhance and maintain existing accounting policy and procedural documentation.
  • Assist with financial consolidation workflows and prepare consolidated financial reports.
Requirements for Success

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • An accountancy qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with 3+ years of relevant accounting experience.
  • A degree in Accounting or Finance background.
  • Proven experience in the monthly close process, journal preparation, audit, regulatory reporting, and exposure to accounting systems.
  • Experience in month-end reporting and financial statement preparation.
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP.
  • The ability to bring structure to ambiguous areas and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel.
  • An enthusiastic 'roll-up-your-sleeves' mentality.
  • A passion for creating new systems and solving problems via infrastructure and automation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and with different cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience with internal controls.
  • Ability to be flexible and comfortable with changing requirements.
Preferred Qualifications

We welcome applicants with:

  • Knowledge of or experience in the technology or payments industry.
  • Experience working with Oracle Suite.
  • Experience with Hubble and SQL.
  • Experience with Tableau, Alteryx, or other visualization tools.
Pay and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary ranging from $110,000 to $140,000 per year, depending on location and experience. This estimate may vary based on individual circumstances. Stripe is committed to pay transparency and strives to provide fair compensation for its employees. Benefits include comprehensive health insurance, generous parental leave policies, and opportunities for professional growth and development. We believe in striking a balance between collaboration, flexibility, and work-life harmony. In most locations, we expect Stripes to spend at least 50% of their time in the office, but this requirement may vary depending on the team and role.
