Senior Bridge Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Bridge Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and assessing bridges using your expertise in steel composite and pretension/posttension structures.

Your main duties will include:

  • Carrying out feasibility studies for strengthening and repair of existing bridges
  • Preparing new bridge design and strengthening design to UK standards, ensuring compliance with appropriate design and health and safety standards
  • Carrying out design and assessment checks (Cat II or Cat III) under the guidance of a Senior or Principal Engineer
  • Preparing or assisting others in compiling drawings, specifications, reports and correspondence within given deadlines

You will also be responsible for following QA, document control, archiving & CDM guidelines on all work and ensuring the correct implementation of document control and QA processes are followed for issue and filing/archiving of all work carried out.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of UK design standards and WSP QA processes. You should also have experience in using WSP calculation templates and ensure calculation sheets comply with WSP standards.

In addition, you will need to have excellent communication and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to adapt to changing requirements and priorities.

  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng)
  • Experience in bridge design and assessment
