About the Role

EssentiallySports is hiring a US Sports News Editor to join our energetic and passionate editorial team.

We are one of the leading sports entertainment digital media publications in the world, garnering 100M+ page views a month. Our goal is to continue growing exponentially and become the best in the business.

The editorial team has the highest authority when it comes to content creation, verifying statistical data and facts, proofreading, and enhancing quality before publication.

We value inherent skills and talent but believe intent, attitude, and passion matter more than anything else.

Responsibilities:

  • Editing and publishing 20-25 articles daily.
  • Proofreading articles for grammatical and plagiarism errors before publication.
  • Researching fact accuracy and identifying incorrect claims.
  • Publishing priority news-based articles on time.
  • Mentoring writers to refine their quality, output, and performance.
  • Ensuring smooth operations with writers in the sport division.

You'll be a great fit if you:

  • Have a good grasp of English fundamentals and American culture.
  • Are quick with fact-checking and enhancing editorial quality.
  • Take ownership of publishing articles on time and are flexible for event-coverage days.
  • Have leadership qualities, good character judgment, and people management skills.
  • Have a keen eye for enticing titles and subheadings with basic SEO knowledge.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 6-12 months of experience in proofreading and/or content editing.
  • Prior experience leading a team of writers would be an additional plus.
