Overview

Cigna International Health is embarking on a transformative project to modernize its portal and self-service application, aiming to expand its health businesses globally. We seek accomplished leaders to champion our vision and drive the development of a mobile platform serving Cigna's customers worldwide.

Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership
    • Provide strategic direction and oversee the API stack discipline within application development.
    • Implement software engineering strategies aligned with business and product objectives.
    • Own the middleware stack for the solution, ensuring alignment with the product vision.
    • Contribute to the definition of application development policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Mentoring
    • Lead and mentor junior software development team members, fostering a culture of innovation, automation, collaboration, and excellence.
    • Participate in career development and performance of junior software development team members.
  • Project Delivery
    • Execute software projects, ensuring timely delivery, within budget, and meeting quality standards.
    • Develop solutions using Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodology.
    • Execute project plans and application designs to ensure alignment with standards and IT strategy.
  • Architecture and Development
    • Guide design principles and development processes to ensure scalable, secure, and efficient solutions, collaborating with senior leads.
  • Operational Efficiency
    • Implement DevSecOps to streamline processes, tools, and workflows, optimizing engineering operations and enhancing productivity.
Requirements
  • Experience: Proven experience (6 years) in a senior role within software development, building scalable, modern APIs and microservices for highly available web and mobile applications.
  • Technical Acumen: Extensive knowledge of software development methodologies, source code management strategies, design patterns, automation, and best practices. Ability to translate non-functional requirements such as availability, flexibility, stability, ease of maintenance, and security.
  • Technologies covered: Strong experience in implementing APIs using Python, NodeJS, and JVM (Java, Spring Boot, Kotlin) for modern web applications.
  • Experience with using ReSTful standards, building API documentations, CORS, API security such as JWTs, OAuth 2.0, etc.
  • Experience in using unit testing frameworks, various deployment strategies such as blue-green/canary for hosting applications.
  • Experience in building Infrastructure as Code using tools like Docker/Podman, Kubernetes, Terraform/CloudFormation.
  • Experience in building APIs on AWS using Lambdas, API Gateways, IAM, KMS, S3, CloudFront. Experience in ECS/EKS, Docker, ALB/NLB is a plus.
  • Experience with building and deploying application code and configured CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Bamboo CI.
  • Experience with working in agile teams and understanding the concepts of iterative delivery, fail-early & fail-fast, continued improvements.
  • Leadership Skills: Good leadership, mentoring, and communication skills to guide and inspire junior technical team members.
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Optional: Global and regulatory landscapes: Understanding and experience of working practices across multiple geographies. Experience with regional nuances such as tax rules, regulatory interfaces, multi-currency, multi-language, etc. is an advantage.
  • Aware of the concrete effects of architectural decisions – specifically microservice architecture – at the code level, in collaboration with other team members.
