About Our Music Initiative

Our music initiative is dedicated to providing inclusive music education and therapy for children and adults with diverse needs. Our team of special educators and therapists work together to support learners with multiple disabilities.

We are seeking a skilled music teacher to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will have experience working with children with special educational needs and be able to plan and deliver engaging music lessons that accommodate varying learning styles and abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and Deliver Lessons: Create music lessons that incorporate adaptive techniques, visual aids, instruments, and alternative communication methods to support student participation.
• Use Adaptive Techniques: Utilise assistive technologies and materials to facilitate student learning and engagement.
• Encourage Expression and Communication: Promote music as a means of self-expression, communication, and emotional regulation.
• Collaborate with Therapists: Work closely with occupational therapists, speech therapists, and other specialists to integrate therapeutic goals into musical activities.
• Assessment and Reporting: Assess student progress using tailored benchmarks; maintain accurate records and contribute to individualised education plans.
• Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, structured, and encouraging classroom environment; manage behaviour sensitively in line with positive behaviour support policies.
• Enrichment and Events: Organise performances, music therapy sessions, and school-wide musical events to showcase students' abilities.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music or Music Therapy
• 3-7 years of experience working with children with special educational needs
• Teaching qualification or experience in special education
• Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and adaptive music education
• Ability to play an instrument and facilitate group music singing
• Knowledge of light songs and bhajans in Tamil
• Training in music therapy or knowledge of therapeutic music practices
• Experience with communication aids
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Patience, creativity, and a positive attitude
