Job Title:

Database Operations Specialist.

  • Responsible for performing standardized operations, health checks, and troubleshooting on Oracle databases.
  • Monitors system performance, validates backups, and tracks performance baselines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run daily health checks on Oracle environments and Exadata components.
  • Monitor Oracle GoldenGate processes, check replication lag, and perform basic restarts.
  • Review alerts and track database performance metrics.

Operational Excellence

  • Execute backup and restore activities using RMAN.
  • Apply standard database patches and updates during maintenance windows.
  • Perform routine changes to user/role creation, privileges, and quotas under change control.

Incident Response

  • Triage alarms, gather diagnostics, and restore services where possible.
  • Escalate incidents with clear context, timelines, and impact summaries.
  • Contribute to post-incident reviews.

Security and Compliance

  • Enforce security policies, including least-privilege access and credential rotation.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records.

Documentation and Collaboration

  • Update runbooks, knowledge articles, and database topology diagrams.
  • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and network teams.

Requirements

  • ~1 year of hands-on Oracle DBA experience with user/admin tasks and schema management.
  • Basic understanding of Exadata and Linux administration.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle GoldenGate fundamentals and RMAN.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
