API Test Engineer Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced API test engineer to test and validate MuleSoft APIs and integrations, ensuring they meet business and technical requirements, are defect-free, and perform with high reliability.

Responsibilities:

  • Design detailed test strategies, plans, and scenarios for MuleSoft APIs.
  • Perform functional, regression, integration, and performance testing of MuleSoft APIs.
  • Validate RESTful and SOAP-based APIs, checking response formats, headers, status codes, and business logic.
  • Execute API mocking and simulate downstream system responses.
  • Automation & Tools: Design and develop automated API test scripts (ReadyAPI preferred; Postman, SoapUI, JMeter acceptable).
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Defect Management & Reporting: Identify, log, track, and retest defects using tools like JIRA.
  • Prepare and maintain test documentation including test cases, scripts, and summary reports.
  • Data Validation: Write complex SQL queries for backend data verification.
  • Agile Participation: Actively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum 7+ years in API testing, with 3+ years in MuleSoft API testing.
  • Strong hands-on experience with REST and SOAP APIs.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in API testing tools (Postman, SoapUI, JMeter, ReadyAPI), knowledge of MuleSoft platform components and architecture, familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps), and strong understanding of HTTP, JSON, XML, OAuth2, JWT, API security standards.
