About the Role:

Nielsen is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for analyzing, developing, testing, and supporting complex application software built on Big Data platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop scalable, reliable, and cost-effective solutions for both cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Build and test cloud-based applications for new and existing backend systems to facilitate development teams' migration to the cloud.
  • Develop and maintain reusable code and components that can be used by multiple project teams.
  • Drive innovative solutions within the platform to establish common components while allowing customization for different products.
  • Develop design specifications and continuous build and deployment strategies to drive Agile methodology.
  • Provide cloud integration development support to various project teams.
  • Collaborate with Data Science to understand, translate, and integrate methodologies into engineering build pipelines.
  • Collaborate with product owners to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Provide expert apprenticeship to project teams on technology strategy and cultivate advanced skill sets in application engineering.
  • Mentor junior team members and provide guidance and support in their professional development.
  • Stay informed about the latest technology and methodology by participating in industry forums and engaging actively with customers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering with 4-8 years of experience in information technology solutions development.
  • Strong cloud implementation expertise in cloud architecture.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills in troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Ability to provide solutions utilizing best practices for resilience, scalability, cloud optimization, and security.
  • 3+ years of experience in big data using Apache Spark and developing distributed processing applications.
  • Experience in software development using programming languages and tools like Java, Scala, Big Data, Hadoop, Spark, and AWS.
  • Experience with orchestration tools like Apache Airflow.
  • Strong knowledge in AWS S3, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Gitlab.
  • AWS Certification is a plus.
