Database Administration Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administration Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing and maintaining large database estates, as well as designing and implementing high availability solutions.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain large database estates
  • Design and implement high availability solutions (RAC, Golden Gate, and Dataguard)
  • Install, configure, and manage ASM instances in Oracle
  • Plan and execute major migrations and upgrades
  • Define and configure disk and diskgroups in ASM and troubleshoot
  • Manage and administer databases on Exadata machines
  • Plan database upgrades, migrations, and patching
  • Implement backup and recovery processes as needed
  • Coordinate with vendors for incident resolution
  • Perform database refreshes, re-organization, and backups using RMAN and 3rd party tools
  • Install and configure Grid Control database monitoring tools
  • Administer and troubleshoot Oracle Grid Control
  • Establish performance benchmarks and metrics
  • Conduct regular database instance performance reviews and provide tuning recommendations
  • Provide proactive analysis and suggestions to application teams and business stakeholders
  • Develop and troubleshoot shell scripting, SQL, and PL/SQL scripts
  • Support production and non-production database environments
  • Identify and mitigate risks
  • Prepare and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for all activities
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and recommend training needs to project managers
  • Implement and monitor automation and DB security processes
  • Document and track technology-related risks and mitigation plans
  • Provide technical guidance to junior DBAs and offer 24x7 on-call support for critical applications

Requirements:

  • Experience in managing large database estates
  • Expertise in designing and implementing high availability solutions
  • Knowledge of ASM instances and disk configurations
  • Skills in performing database upgrades, migrations, and patching
  • Familiarity with RMAN and 3rd party tools
  • Experience with Grid Control database monitoring tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
