Senior GitLab Infrastructure Specialist

Job Title: Senior GitLab Administrator

Job Description:

  • Infrastructure Assessment: Conduct a thorough evaluation of the current infrastructure to determine its compatibility with GitLab requirements and identify areas for improvement.
  • Team Collaboration: Foster strong relationships with internal and external teams to understand enterprise architecture, security standards, and corporate requirements, providing expert guidance on design and implementation.
  • System Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and manage GitLab on the bank's servers, leveraging configuration management and infrastructure as code tools to optimize infrastructure setup and implement best practices for version control, code review, and collaboration.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Development: Design and implement CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD and Azure DevOps, providing training and support to team members and engineers on effective GitLab usage and assisting in the development of training materials.
  • Issue Resolution: Monitor and troubleshoot any issues with GitLab infrastructure, working closely with development teams to ensure successful adoption and developing documentation for GitLab setup and usage within the enterprise.
  • Best Practices and Recommendations: Provide expert advice on best practices around Microsoft Azure, GitLab, and Azure DevOps, implementing scripts and routines to automate mundane tasks and provision container workloads using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm charts.
  • Instance Management: Manage Windows and Linux instances as required, perform troubleshooting, collaborate closely with the team to prioritize tasks, and enable advanced security features such as DAST and API Fuzzing.
  • Policies and Compliance: Develop and enforce security and compliance policies on GitLab reflecting departmental requirements, configure backups, create disaster recovery plans, implement Single Sign On authentication, and perform migration of data from previous GitLab Self-Managed instance to the new one.
  • Deployment Configuration: Implement deployment pipelines with incremental delivery capabilities (such as blue-green deployments), install and enable advanced search capabilities on GitLab, set up monitoring and alerting for the GitLab platform, perform security hardening based on best practices, and configure data retention policies.
  • Standard Operating Procedures: Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) regarding OS and GitLab instance patching, contribute to deployment operations, ensuring that artefacts have been deployed successfully and all required documentation has been vetted and stored to our corporate systems based on IT Development and Deployment SOPs, set up encryption of databases and other software artefacts, and create webhooks which perform administrative tasks on the platform.
  • Runner Infrastructure: Set up the required GitLab Runner infrastructure and ensure automated scaling is in place, contributing and participating in all DevOps initiatives within the organization.
