Job Overview

The role of a software deployment engineer is crucial in ensuring the smooth distribution and installation of applications across various platforms.

Responsibilities include:

  • Repackaging applications into MSI, MST, or App-V formats for efficient deployment
  • Collaborating with application owners to create application packages using PowerShell App Deployment Toolkit (PSADT)
  • Conducting thorough testing and validation of application packages in lab and UAT environments to guarantee reliability and security
  • Documenting packaging steps, testing results, and installation guidelines for future reference
  • Supporting deployment through SCCM/Intune and resolving packaging-related issues in a timely manner
  • Coordinating with stakeholders to gather requirements for application packaging and delivery

Requirements

To excel in this role, applicants should possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows OS and Windows Installer technology
  • Experience with packaging tools such as Admin Studio, Installshield, Orca, and troubleshooting tools like PicTaker, Beyond Compare, ACT, etc.
  • Expertise in PowerShell scripting & PSADT
  • Experience with SCCM/Intune for deployment
  • Understanding of dependencies, DLLs, registry, and custom actions
