Job Title: Head of Sports and Wellness

The Sports Department Director is a leadership role responsible for spearheading the development, implementation, and evaluation of sports programs, physical education initiatives, and wellness activities across the institution.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive vision, strategy, and policies for the sports department to promote excellence in sports performance and student well-being.
  • Oversee sports programs, inter-collegiate tournaments, training camps, and physical education curriculum to ensure alignment with national and international standards.
  • Manage sports facilities, gymnasiums, and grounds to guarantee proper maintenance, utilization, and safety.
  • Identify, recruit, and mentor talented athletes to represent the institution at various levels.
  • Collaborate with coaches, trainers, and faculty to foster a culture of fitness, sportsmanship, and academic excellence.
  • Organize workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns on health, fitness, and sports to enhance student knowledge and participation.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of sports coaches and staff to ensure they meet institutional expectations.
  • Maintain compliance with safety regulations and promote ethical sports practices to safeguard students and staff.
  • Develop and implement sports and physical education policies aligned with UGC/AIU norms to ensure institutional accreditation.
  • Liaise with sports councils, federations, and UGC-recognized bodies to facilitate collaboration, participation, and resource sharing.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Ph.D. in Physical Education, Sports Science, or related field.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in sports administration, coaching, or sports management.
  • A proven track record of managing large-scale sports events and teams.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with modern training methods, sports technology, and performance analytics.
  • A record of representing the university/college at inter-university / inter-collegiate competitions or State and/or National championships.
  • Familiarity with UGC, AIU, and national sports policies.
