Chief Risk Officer

This senior role is responsible for guiding the Marine Insurance and Claims department. The successful candidate will serve as the primary point of contact and escalation for all marine insurance and claims-related matters within the organization and with external entities.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership & Governance: Lead the Marine Insurance and Claims (MI&C) Department, representing the company in all marine insurance and claims policies and functions.
- Risk Assessment & Policy Development: Drive insurance policy planning and risk mitigation initiatives, reviewing and approving insurance renewals, endorsements, and premium structures.
- Claims Management & Resolution: Oversee the complete life cycle of insurance claims, ensuring timely resolution and compliance with insurer protocols.
- Team Performance Management: Directly supervise and mentor MI&C team members, ensuring optimal departmental structure, delegation, and staff performance.
- Training, Development & Knowledge Sharing: Foster a culture of continuous learning and procedural excellence within the MI&C team, facilitating regular training on policy requirements, claim handling, and compliance updates.
- Regulatory Compliance & Audit Coordination: Ensure the MI&C Department meets all internal and external compliance and audit requirements, verifying that vessels maintain valid certificates required for port entry.
- Stakeholder Management & Collaboration: Act as the primary contact for all marine insurance brokers, clubs, surveyors, and legal representatives, appointing and evaluating performance of brokers and claims handlers.
- Reporting, Analysis & Strategic Insights: Provide leadership-level reporting and strategic direction based on risk and claim trends, preparing risk reports and insurance summaries for review.
- Leadership Experience: Proven track record of leading teams and driving business growth.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of marine insurance and claims principles and practices.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement effective risk management strategies.
