Reconciliation Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Reconciliation Specialist to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for gathering, posting, and reconciling payments received by the Revenue Team.

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial transactions.
  • Monitor and manage incoming payments.
  • Retrieve and post remittances from applicable payor websites when not available from clearinghouse.
  • Review remittances for applicable adjustments and transfer balance to secondary or patient responsibility as needed.
  • Respond to questions related to payment application and work closely with onshore teams to resolve account variances.
  • Research and correct keying errors as needed.
  • Document root cause and discrepancies and generate reports based on department protocols.
  • Document results of research and amend appropriate systems to reconcile payments.
  • Identify trends in improved internal processes, systems, etc. as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Good understanding of insurance accounting and good accounting background.
  • Reporting understanding and reconciliation knowledge.
  • Monitors and manages incoming payments.
  • Retrieves and posts remittances from applicable payor websites when the remittance is not available from clearinghouse.
  • Reviews remittances for applicable adjustments, and transfers balance to secondary or patient responsibility when appropriate.
  • Responds to questions related to payment application and works closely with onshore teams to resolve any account variances.
  • Researches and corrects keying errors as needed.

  • Identifying trends in improved internal processes, systems, etc. as needed.
  • Conforming to defined platform, client, payer, and/or internal standard operating procedures (SOPs) and/or other applicable guidelines and regulations in completing job duties.
  • Ensuring all workflow items are completed within set turn-around-time within quality expectations.
  • Reconciling payments to ensure accounting system reflects correct transactions.
  • Performing daily financial transactions such as verifying, calculating and posting accounts receivable data.

Desired Experience and Skillset:

  • Any relevant accounting college degree with 3-7 years of experience.
  • Good Knowledge on technical accounting.
  • Good understanding of insurance accounting, understanding on basic too complex to technical accounting, good understanding and working experience on reconciliation processes.
  • Should have accounting expertise, good knowledge of accounting standards and regulations, considerable knowledge of internal and external account audits,
  • Working knowledge of spreadsheet applications and software applications and advanced financial statement preparation skills.
  • Detail oriented with strong mathematical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to report as the right level according to requirement (Headline, Summary, Detail).
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills.
  • Highly proficient in the use of common business applications such as Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, Teams.
  • High level of competency with Reconciliation.
