Business Intelligence Developer: Job Description

As a Business Intelligence Developer, you will design and develop robust Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) solutions using IBM InfoSphere DataStage. This role is crucial for working with relevant technologies, ensuring smooth data integration, and contributing significantly to business objectives through expert analysis, development of data pipelines, implementation, and troubleshooting within the DataStage domain.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop complex ETL jobs using IBM InfoSphere DataStage to extract data from various source systems, transform it according to business rules, and load it into target data warehouses or data marts.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and data architects to understand data integration requirements, source-to-target mappings, and data transformation logic.
  • Design and manage DataStage sequences and jobs for efficient scheduling and execution of data pipelines.
  • Monitor DataStage job performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization techniques to ensure efficient data processing and timely data availability.
  • Perform in-depth troubleshooting, debugging, and issue resolution for DataStage jobs, data quality issues, and connectivity problems.
  • Implement data quality checks and contribute to data governance initiatives within the ETL processes.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for DataStage jobs, ETL processes, data flows, and design specifications.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

  • Strong hands-on experience in developing, deploying, and troubleshooting ETL jobs using IBM InfoSphere DataStage.
  • Excellent proficiency in SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
  • Familiarity with various relational and non-relational database systems as source and target systems for ETL.
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and ETL methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to complex data integration challenges.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical concepts and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
