Key Responsibilities

The Deputy Director will collaborate with senior leadership, Enterprise Architects, and engineering leaders to develop robust cloud-based container solutions.

  1. Partner with business product managers and lead systems architects to identify opportunities for developing product strategies and actionable roadmaps.
  2. Make strategic decisions to align engineering team products with business objectives.
  3. Oversee engineering and operations to ensure delivery of commitments aligned with strategic product priorities.
  4. Work closely with agile teams and product managers to drive outcomes.
  5. Serve as a primary point of contact for third-party vendors and technology service providers.
  6. Manage allocation of human and financial resources for technology engineering projects.
  7. Monitor capacity, performance, and cost metrics to ensure quality and identify areas for improvement.
  8. Research and implement new technologies to enhance our capabilities.

Mandatory Technical Skills

Kubernetes: Advanced proficiency in deploying, managing, and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters.
Container Technologies: Extensive experience with Docker and other container runtimes.
Cloud Platforms: In-depth knowledge of at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including their container services.
Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency in tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
CI/CD: Experience with continuous integration and deployment pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions).
Scripting and Automation: Strong skills in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Go.
Networking: Solid understanding of networking concepts, especially as they relate to container orchestration and microservices.
Security: Knowledge of container and Kubernetes security best practices.
Monitoring and Logging: Experience with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or similar solutions.
Version Control: Proficiency with Git and GitOps workflows.
Performance Tuning: Ability to optimize Kubernetes clusters and applications for performance and cost-efficiency.
API Design: Understanding of RESTful API design principles and microservices architecture.
