Bookkeeper Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Bookkeeper to support our finance and operations team. This role requires strong knowledge of Australian bookkeeping, accounting standards, and taxation rules, along with excellent English communication skills.

This position is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, accurate, sharp, proactive, and resourceful. As a Bookkeeper, you will be working closely with our leadership team to ensure our financial records are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records in compliance with Australian accounting standards.
  • Assist with BAS, GST, and other tax-related filings.
  • Process payroll and superannuation contributions (if required).
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Work with accountants to prepare financial reports and ensure compliance.
  • Manage invoicing, receipts, and expense tracking.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and clients regarding financial matters.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience (Australian clients or companies preferred).
  • Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Xero, QuickBooks, or MYOB.
  • Knowledge: Solid understanding of BAS, GST, superannuation, and other Australian compliance requirements.
  • Communication: Fluent English (written and verbal). Clear, professional, and confident communicator.
  • Work Style: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Mindset: Sharp, analytical, and proactive problem-solver.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with Australian businesses.
  • Certification in bookkeeping or accounting.
  • Strong Excel and reporting skills.
