Role Summary

EssentiallySports is seeking a talented Sports Content Editor to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for editing and publishing high-quality sports content that resonates with our readers.

As a key member of our editorial team, you will work closely with writers, editors, and content managers to refine and elevate the content we publish. Your deep understanding of our audience will help you fine-tune content, enhancing its impact and relevance even after it's been published.

Responsibilities
  • Edit and publish 20-25 articles daily, maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Conduct thorough research and fact-checking to ensure all content is well-researched and engaging.
  • Work collaboratively with writers, editors, and content managers to develop and implement content strategies.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior writers, helping them grow and evolve as contributors to the team.
  • Stay up-to-date with breaking news and events, ensuring our readers are always informed and engaged.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Media/Journalism, or a related field.
  • 6-12 months of experience in sports content editing, proofreading, or a similar role.
  • Strong command of the English language and an understanding of American culture.
  • Ability to analyze article performance metrics and use insights to improve content quality.
  • Basic understanding of SEO principles, including crafting engaging headings and subheadings.
  • Leadership skills to inspire, guide, and mentor a team of writers.
