**Job Title:** Senior Backend Engineer

At our company, we're building a cutting-edge personal finance app for Gen Z. Our mission is to transform bank transactions into actionable insights and goals users can achieve.

As a senior backend engineer, you will play a crucial role in shaping the core experience of our app. You'll be responsible for designing and implementing robust REST APIs, SQS workers, and efficient Postgres schemas. Your expertise in secure webhooks, idempotency, and API performance will ensure seamless interactions between our services.

We're looking for a seasoned professional with 5+ years of experience building Node/TypeScript backends with Postgres and a queue (SQS/Rabbit/etc.). You should have a strong grasp of cursor pagination, error design, and API performance. Experience with Plaid SDK, LLM API usage, and SMS flows is a plus.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement REST APIs from OpenAPI specs
  • Write SQS workers for ingestion and insights
  • Enforce input validation, structured logs, and distributed tracing
  • Collaborate tightly with the Platform/Infra engineer to ensure security, performance, and cost efficiency
Requirements:
  • 5+ years building Node/TypeScript backends with Postgres and a queue
  • Proven experience with secure webhooks and third-party APIs
  • Strong grasp of idempotency, retries/backoff, cursor pagination, error design, and API performance
  • Experience with Docker, GitHub Actions, and observability basics
