HVAC Design Manager

High-rise residential, commercial, and hospitality projects require expert leadership in HVAC system design. The Senior Design Manager - HVAC plays a pivotal role in this process.

• Designing HVAC systems that meet international standards (ASHRAE/ISHRAE) and project requirements is a key responsibility.
• Collaboration with architects and engineers ensures seamless integration of HVAC systems into architectural designs.
• Techno-commercial evaluations and proposals for new products, technologies, and design improvements are crucial.
• Developing energy-saving and environmentally friendly designs and products aligns with industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Designing HVAC systems for high-rise residential, commercial, and hospitality projects.
• Calculating heating and cooling needs, and designing HVAC systems accordingly.
• Proposing new products, technologies, and design improvements with feasibility studies.
• Conducting techno-commercial evaluations and recommending options.
• Developing energy-saving and environmentally friendly designs and products.
• Calculating ventilation requirements and determining budgetary costs.
• Coordinating with architects and engineers to ensure seamless integration of HVAC systems.
• Studying and understanding architectural and structural drawings.
• Providing detailed input to junior engineers for preparation of quality drawings.
• Monitoring progress and quality of drawings in Revit and CAD until the GFC stage.
• Preparing a list of discrepancies in architectural or structural drawings and informing the architect within 2 working days.
• Conceptualizing design based on final architectural drawings.
• Preparing documents for sanction purposes as per codes and local norms.
• Attending design review meetings.
• Obtaining signoff on concept design before proceeding to detail design.
• Preparing a design brief report.
• Detailing design as per approved concept and scheme.
• Checking drawings along with a checklist.
• Submitting drawings as per commitments.
• Preparing HVAC duct routes and equipment layouts in Revit/BIM.
• Detailing duct routes, BOM preparation in Revit/BIM.
• Preparing all HVAC drawings using Revit/BIM software.
• Preparing BOQ/estimate/technical specification/approved make along with takeoff sheets.
• Preparing tender drawings, specifications, BOM for floating tenders.
• Conducting technical evaluations and rating/recommending vendors.
• Conducting quality checks and inspections at site during different stages of construction.
• Obtaining LEED/IGBC certification for the building.
• Reviewing shop drawings and technical data sheets.
• Maintaining documentation of all design materials and drawings.
• Handing over inspection as per requirements.
• Using specialized software to create design and drawings of products.
• Preparing equipment manual/maintenance booklet for site team.
• Developing As-Built drawings with the in-house team.
• Evaluating test reports and overseeing construction of HVAC systems for all projects.
• Reviewing equipment and material submittals.
• Assisting and resolving HVAC issues during/after construction.
• Completing construction visits and addressing issues with regard to HVAC systems.
• Complying with all relevant standards and procedures.
• Ensuring compliance with project timelines.
• Communicating and coordinating with teams and departments to aid in architectural and engineering design.
• Engaging with other teams during the design and construction period.
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years of experience OR Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 7+ years of experience.
• Working knowledge of Revit.
