The Cloud Administrator role encompasses a range of responsibilities, including Snowflake administration, performance optimization, data management, security & compliance, automation, monitoring & troubleshooting, cost optimization, upgrades & maintenance, integration, and documentation & governance.

Snowflake Administration:
  • Manage Snowflake accounts, users, roles, and permissions following RBAC principles.
Performance Optimization:
  • Monitor query performance, optimize warehouses, and tune workloads to ensure efficient execution.
Data Management:
  • Oversee databases, schemas, tables, and data pipelines in Snowflake.
Security & Compliance:
  • Implement security best practices including encryption, data masking, network policies, and audit logging.
Automation:
  • Develop scripts for monitoring, alerting, and automating administrative tasks (SQL, Python, PowerShell, etc.).
Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
  • Track warehouse utilization, storage, and query performance; identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
Cost Optimization:
  • Manage compute and storage costs by monitoring consumption and implementing optimization strategies.
Upgrades & Maintenance:
  • Apply patches, monitor Snowflake updates, and ensure minimal downtime.
Integration:
  • Support integrations with ETL/ELT tools, BI platforms, and cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Documentation & Governance:
  • Maintain detailed documentation of Snowflake configurations, policies, and standard operating procedures.

Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience), 2+ years of experience as a Snowflake Administrator, strong knowledge of Snowflake features, proficiency in SQL and scripting, experience with cloud platforms and integrations, familiarity with ETL/ELT tools, knowledge of data security & governance practices, and strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
