Stocks Market Correspondent

About the role:

  • The daily U.S. Stocks report covers moves in shares of corporate giants, covering Apple to General Motors and data-driven shifts in New York s S&P, Dow Jones and Nasdaq indexes.
  • Reuters Emerging Market reports cover currency, bond and stock markets in developing economies across Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
  • U.S.-focused stories make up our popular Stocks Buzz service.
  • Quick hit takeouts jump on major shifts in stock market sentiment and particular shares.
  • You will be proactive and tenacious in finding true explanations for stock moves and feeding story ideas, issues and tips to teams covering regulatory, earnings and event-driven news on largest corporations.
  • You will develop and cultivate a wide circle of contacts in the Wall Street trading world, asking the right questions and picking up the phone.
  • Initiative stories catch the latest trend in a particular stock or markets at large.

Responsibilities:

  • Minimum 6+ years into Markets and emerging, Stocks journalism.
  • Work hand-in-hand with the stock markets team and editors in New York and colleagues across the newsroom in Bangalore covering global stories, supporting the Markets Editor.
  • Pay great attention to detail and have an aptitude for numbers.
  • Comfortable using Reuters data to identify and explain stock-market trends.
  • Excellent news judgment is required and strong writing skills are an advantage.

  • Strong knowledge of financial markets and news judgement.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Proactive and results-driven approach.
