Data Engineering Expertise Sought

We are seeking a seasoned data engineering professional to lead the development of our data platform. This individual will be responsible for architecting and scaling our core data foundation, ensuring it is clean, scalable, and robust.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in backend or data engineering roles, with a deep understanding of normalized and dimensional data models. They should also be well-versed in dbt (macros, packages, tests, modularization, docs) and have advanced expertise in SQL, particularly with PostgreSQL.

Additionally, the successful candidate will have strong Python scripting skills for transformation logic and automation, as well as proven experience with tools in the modern data stack, including dbt (Cloud or Core), PostgreSQL, Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, Great Expectations, Fivetran, GitHub Actions, Terraform, and IaC.

The role requires excellent collaboration skills across engineering, product, and analytics teams, as well as strong communication skills to author technical documentation and explain system tradeoffs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Architect, develop, and maintain a robust semantic layer and modular dbt pipelines
  • Own schema design, documentation, and data contracts across the analytics and application layer
  • Define and enforce data platform best practices, versioning, and governance for all data models
  • Implement data testing, observability, and quality automation to ensure confidence at scale
  • Guide tool selection and platform evolution across the modern data stack
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and analytics teams to ship reliable data-backed features
  • Mentor a growing team of engineers and participate in architecture planning and reviews
